About Inkisle
Inkisle (written InkIsle in the logo, read "ink-ISLE") is a strategy game about islands, fleets and ink. It is made by ipe(), a small studio run by one developer, and it is still in development. There is no store page, no release date and no final price yet.
How it plays
- Every island produces troops over time. You own some islands, the other side owns some, and neutral islands hold a fixed number.
- Drag from one of your islands to another island to send a fleet. A bar at the bottom lets you choose how much to send: 25, 50, 75 or 100%.
- When a fleet arrives with more troops than the island holds, it captures the island and the island fills with your color. Fortresses defend at 1.5 times their number.
- Stages take about 3 to 5 minutes, are played upright with one hand, and need no network.
What is decided, and what is not
| Topic | Status |
|---|---|
| Name | Inkisle, decided on 2026-10-29. Trademark checks are not done yet. |
| Platforms | iOS first is planned, with Android developed alongside. No date. |
| Price | Not decided. The current plan is: the first seas are free, the rest unlock with a single purchase, no ads, no energy, no loot boxes. |
| Story | None, on purpose. The pull is the fun of taking islands and wanting the next sea. |
| Online play | Later, if players want it. The engine is built so that it could be added. |
Why a journal
We build in public. The Journal publishes one post a day while the game is made: decisions, prototypes, mistakes and numbers. Posts say plainly what has been measured and what has not.
